Green Bay West Lions: Serving the Green Bay area for over 50 years.

Programs within the Community

Our fundraising efforts have enabled us to provide eye exams and glasses for needy children. We have purchased a defibrillator for the Green Bay Sheriff’s Department, paid for building and equipping a room when St. Mary’s Hospital was constructed, and have accomplished numerous other projects. A current ongoing project involves our building and maintaining a park for the handicapped at the Curative Workshop. We participate in a number of things that do not require monetary contributions: glaucoma screening, children’/s vision testing, Salvation Army bell ringing, recycling of used eyeglasses, and transporting eye tissue for corneal transplants. Another project is equipping a “Medical Supply Closet” for senior citizens at the Brown County Aging & Disability Resource Center. We provide items such as transport wheelchairs, walkers, commodes, shower benches, and hand held showers for senior citizens to enable them to stay in their homes longer.

The Wisconsin Lion’s Camp is the “gem” of the Wisconsin Lion’s activities. Visually and hearing impaired children, as well as cognitively and disabled children can enjoy a week of camping at our beautiful camp at Rosholt, Wisconsin, at no cost to them. Adult programs are also available. The addition of year-round cabins, a large dining hall, Pinewood Lodge, and the recreation shelter allow for group meetings and conferences.

In July 2013, Green Bay West Lions was presented a plaque from the Brown County Aging and Disability Resource Center for 10 years of partnership.  The efforts of the Lions Club have supplied the loan closet with over $87,000 worth of medical equipment.
